Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the event “We Love and Thank Our Seniors” organized by Yonggang Senior Welfare Center on the 2nd, ahead of Parents' Day.
On this day, the staff of Yonggang Senior Welfare Center gave carnations to the elderly and moved them by singing “Parents' Grace” together. The event also featured adorable children's singing and dancing, a silver orchestra performance, and a congratulatory performance by singer Yeo Ho-yeon.
In his greeting, Park Gang-su said, “I am deeply touched as I remember pinning carnations on my parents' chest when I was young,” and added, “Mapo District will carefully look after the elderly in the community as if serving our own parents through various senior welfare policies such as resident-participation filial piety meals and Dabom House.”

Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the launch ceremony of the ‘Volunteer Group for Families Caring for Dementia Patients’ held at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall on the morning of the 2nd.
About 200 volunteer group members participated in the ceremony, which included a pledge to practice volunteer service, an introduction to volunteer activities, and commemorative photos.
The district is the first local government nationwide to establish a volunteer group for families caring for dementia patients, leading efforts to create a community-centered care environment.
Choi Ho-gwon said, “It is very meaningful to boost the pride of the volunteer group and to be part of this first step,” and added, “I hope the warm hearts of the volunteers will share the difficulties of families with dementia patients and help build a happy society together.”

Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, Seoul, is attentively caring for local seniors by holding senior events on Parents' Day, the 2nd.
Mayor Kim visited the ‘Gayang 2-dong Parents' Day Senior Event’ held in the large auditorium on the 5th floor of the Korean Oriental Medicine Association (91 Heojun-ro) in the morning to express respect and gratitude for the seniors' hard work.
The event, attended by about 200 local seniors, was divided into two parts: an awards ceremony and a commemorative event.
Mayor Kim presented certificates of appreciation to exemplary seniors who serve as role models in the community, filial piety awardees who have cared for their parents with utmost devotion, and contributors to senior welfare, expressing his thanks. During the second part, lunch and refreshments were served to the attending seniors.
He then visited the Gayang 1-dong Parents' Day senior event held at the banquet hall on the 2nd basement floor of Botanic Park Wedding Hall (6 Magokjungang 5-ro), where he presented certificates and expressed gratitude to the seniors.
The ‘Parents' Day Senior Events’ will be held in all 20 neighborhoods from this day until the 18th. Mayor Kim plans to attend all the events without fail to personally convey respect and gratitude to the seniors.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I am even happier to hold the senior event on a clear and sunny day,” and added, “I will continue to carefully support seniors so that they can enjoy a happy and healthy old age, paying close attention to their health, welfare, and leisure activities without neglecting any aspect.”

The Prime Minister’s Commendation is the highest honor for integrated defense council institutions
The Guro District (Mayor Moon Heon-il) Integrated Defense Council received the highest honor, the Prime Minister’s Commendation, on the occasion of the 55th Reserve Forces Day.
The Guro District Integrated Defense Council is chaired by Mayor Moon Heon-il and consists of 33 members including local military unit commanders, police chiefs, fire chiefs, and heads of key facilities.
The 7688th Unit Guro District Battalion, which protects the Guro District area, recommended the commendation in recognition of Guro District’s active support. After review by the Army Headquarters and the Ministry of National Defense, Guro District was selected among local government integrated defense councils under the Capital Defense Command.
Guro District increased the reserve forces development support budget for three consecutive years, contributing to securing combat equipment and gear and improving training conditions. It also contributed to strengthening integrated defense capabilities by actually organizing and operating the Integrated Defense Support Headquarters during military unit training for emergency preparedness.
The commendation ceremony was held on the 1st at the 7688th Unit during the 2nd quarter Integrated Defense Council meeting in 2023.
Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “I am honored to receive such a good evaluation,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen the integrated defense posture so that residents can live safe daily lives.”

Afterward, Mayor Moon toured military equipment and supplies, then moved to Bakdal Reserve Forces Training Center to inspect the training control room and experience shooting at the video shooting range.
