Police Officer Involved in Drunk Driving Accident Faces Severe Disciplinary Action
A police officer who caused a single-vehicle accident while driving under the influence and was caught after a citizen's report received a severe disciplinary action.
The Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station held a disciplinary committee and announced on the 2nd that Inspector A, who drove under the influence, was demoted.
Disciplinary actions for public officials are divided into severe punishments such as dismissal, removal, demotion, and suspension, and lighter punishments such as pay reduction and reprimand.
Inspector A caused an accident by hitting the curb while driving under the influence around 9:50 p.m. on March 28 in Jinwoldo, Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was measured above the license cancellation standard, but he did not acknowledge this and requested a blood test.
A's crime was revealed by a citizen's report who suspected the vehicle was swerving while driving.
