'Super Mario' Tops for Four Days of the Holiday, 'Suzume' Surpasses 5 Million

The animated film 'Super Mario Brothers' topped the box office during the long weekend holiday.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticketing system on the 2nd, during the four-day Labor Day holiday from April 28 to May 1, 'Super Mario Brothers' attracted 809,036 viewers, securing the number one spot at the box office. The cumulative audience reached 955,438.
Released on April 26, 'Super Mario Brothers' is a film adaptation of the Super Mario game by Nintendo and Illumination, gaining popularity by evoking nostalgia among viewers in their 30s and 40s.
In second place was 'Dream,' starring Park Seo-joon and IU (director Lee Byung-heon), which drew 488,613 viewers. Since its release on April 26, it has accumulated 645,512 viewers.
Third place went to the Hollywood action film 'John Wick 4,' starring Keanu Reeves, which attracted 285,703 viewers. Released on April 12, it has amassed a total audience of 1,663,659.
Makoto Shinkai's Japanese animation 'Suzume no Tojimari' ranked fourth with 173,061 viewers. Since its release on March 8, the film has drawn 5,157,124 viewers, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese animation of all time.
Fifth place was 'Oksu Station Ghost,' sixth was 'Rebound,' seventh was 'The First Slam Dunk,' and eighth was 'Killing Romance.'
