Effectiveness of Live Commerce for Agricultural Products Linked to Local Festivals

Gohung-gun, Jeonnam (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that in collaboration with Geogeumdo Nonghyup (Chairman Chu Bu-haeng), they sold 20 tons of Geogeumdo fresh onions through the ‘Gohung Mall’ live commerce linked to the recent Gohung Aerospace Festival.

At the aerospace festival held for the first time in four years, the first live broadcast of ‘Geogeumdo fresh onions’ recorded about 114,000 simultaneous viewers, receiving a hot response and selling out all the prepared fresh onions. As a result, Geogeumdo Nonghyup accelerated the loading of parcels for delivery.

In particular, Geogeumdo fresh onions received very high praise from consumers for being mild without spiciness, making them ideal for raw consumption, kimchi, and pickles.

With this CEO mindset, we will actively support the administration to widely promote Gohung’s excellent agricultural, fishery, and livestock products in connection with various festivals and events through ‘Gohung Mall,’ and create an environment where farmers and fishermen can focus on producing high-quality products.”

Chairman Chu Bu-haeng of Geogeumdo Nonghyup said, “We faced difficulties last year due to the restraint on onion shipments to wholesale markets and the disposal of 40 hectares of crops. We are very grateful to have exceeded the live sales target of 2,000 boxes by selling 4,000 boxes this time.”

Meanwhile, Gohung-gun is making every effort to operate the direct online shopping mall ‘Gohung Mall’ so that not only Geogeumdo fresh onions but also Gohung-gun’s high-quality and delicious agricultural and marine specialties can be frequently accessed by the entire nation and the world. In May, they plan an online promotion limited to 5,000 boxes through the ‘Jegabeochi’ event on Kakao Makers.
