On the 1st, the Ministry of Justice newly appointed 76 successful candidates from the 12th Bar Examination, who graduated from law schools, as prosecutors. This is the largest number of new prosecutors appointed from bar exam candidates to date.

View original imageThe Ministry of Justice stated that it selected qualified candidates with various professional backgrounds as prosecutors in accordance with the purpose of the law school system, which was introduced to cultivate new legal professionals with diverse expertise and provide high-quality legal services.
Among the newly appointed prosecutors, the proportion of 'non-law majors' who did not major in law during their undergraduate studies was also the highest ever at 93.4% (71 people). Professionals with work experience such as accountants and media workers were also selected.
The newly appointed prosecutors will complete six months of training at the Judicial Research and Training Institute and will be assigned to district prosecutor's offices in November.
At the commissioning ceremony, Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon said, "The law is important, but it is the prosecutor's duty to make decisions that align with common sense," and emphasized, "I can say this confidently. You should not make decisions that defy common sense and then say, 'You don't understand the law, so that's why.'"

At the commissioning ceremony held at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok said, "The work of prosecutors is not about individual authority or power, but a responsibility entrusted by the people under the Constitution," and urged, "Prosecutors must always serve the people with an attitude of serving the public and carry out 'the right thing' in the 'right way' for the people."
