Four Members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Arrested... Accused of Assaulting Police Officers During Labor Day Rally
Four members of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) were arrested on charges of assaulting police officers during a Labor Day rally.
According to the police on the 1st, the individuals were caught in the act around 5 p.m. in front of the Samgakji Police Substation in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, during the closing rally of Labor Day. They were charged with damaging safety fences installed by the police and assaulting police officers on duty.
A police official stated, "We will promptly investigate the four arrested union members and decide whether to apply for arrest warrants." He added, "We also plan to conduct a thorough investigation, including analyzing photographic evidence, against other union members who ordered or actively participated in damaging the safety fences and assaulting police officers."

Meanwhile, to mark Labor Day, the KCTU held the 'May 1st General Rally World Labor Day Assembly' on Sejong-daero in Jung-gu, Seoul. After the main event, participants marched through the city to the Yongsan Presidential Office, the Constitutional Court, and the Seoul Employment and Labor Office.
