Samsung C&T-Hyundai Construction Consortium Wins 1.5 Trillion KRW Ulsan Jung-gu B-04 District Redevelopment Project

Samsung C&T Construction Division and Hyundai Engineering & Construction consortium (hereinafter Samsung-Hyundai Project Team) announced on the 1st that they have been selected as the construction company for the Ulsan Jung-gu B-04 district redevelopment project.

The Ulsan Jung-gu B-04 Redevelopment Association held a general meeting the day before and approved the agenda to select the Samsung-Hyundai Project Team as the construction company. This project involves constructing 48 apartment buildings with 3,885 households and ancillary facilities on the site around 190-4, Gyodong, Jung-gu, with a scale of 4 basement floors to 29 above-ground floors. The construction cost is approximately 1.542 trillion KRW. Both companies hold a 50% stake each.

The project site is a traditional downtown area of Ulsan, adjacent to major institutions such as the Ulsan Police Agency and Ujeong Innovation City, making it highly desirable as a residential area. In particular, Ujeong Innovation City currently houses 10 public institutions, and the Samsung-Hyundai Project Team expects demand for residential complexes close to workplaces to increase as 21 more institutions plan to relocate there in the future.

The Samsung-Hyundai Project Team stated that they proposed a differentiated complex design to the association. The complex design concept, 'Artellicity,' is a portmanteau of Art and Intelligence, symbolizing their intention to present an artistic residential masterpiece in Ulsan, which is advancing as a cutting-edge intelligent city by leveraging the capabilities and know-how of both companies.

The world-renowned architectural design firm RATIO│smdp, which designed Raemian One Bailey and The H Han-nam, also participated in the design. Reflecting Ulsan’s characteristic as the "City of Cranes," the exterior of the high-rise complex was designed to evoke a sense of soaring, while the low-rise village was created with a tranquil atmosphere.

A large central park five times the size of a soccer field will be established within the complex, along with drop-off zones and private parking spaces for each building. Additionally, the Samsung-Hyundai Project Team plans to introduce differentiated noise reduction technology between floors and smart home services to provide a comfortable living environment.

Regarding the interior, the balcony space of the master bedroom in all units will be expanded to secure additional living area, and paid options for finishes, lighting, and furniture will be diversified to allow customization according to individual preferences.

The community facilities will be composed of four concepts: ▲a sky community with a total length of 420 meters ▲a sports community to invigorate residents’ lives ▲an education and culture community ▲and a healing community for interaction with neighbors.
