Government Announces Recruitment for 2024 'Garussal Specialized Cultivation Complex Development Project'
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 30th that it is recruiting applicants for the '2024 Powdered Rice Specialized Cultivation Complex Development Project.'
Since 2023, the government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, has been actively implementing various measures from production to consumption to revitalize the powdered rice industry. It is building a foundation to supply 200,000 tons of powdered rice by 2026.
The ministry supports the establishment of specialized cultivation complexes of a certain scale or larger to ensure stable cultivation techniques and distribution systems by providing consulting education and facilities and equipment support. A ministry official explained, "Because farmers are not familiar with powdered rice cultivation and powdered rice is used as a food ingredient unlike regular rice, it is necessary to produce and supply uniform quality in large quantities."
In 2023, the ministry operated powdered rice cultivation complexes covering 2,000 hectares (1 hectare = 10,000㎡), and in 2024, it plans to significantly expand the cultivation complexes to 10,000 hectares.
Farmers who wish to establish powdered rice cultivation complexes in 2024 can apply to their city, county, or district offices between the 15th and 31st of next month after meeting the specified requirements.
Eligibility for application includes agricultural cooperative organizations (Nonghyup and joint business corporations), agricultural corporations (farming cooperative corporations and agricultural company corporations), and cooperatives under the Cooperative Act with a powdered rice cultivation area of 30 hectares or more in 2024.
Farmers located in cities or counties with less than 3,000 hectares of rice cultivation area can apply for the complex if their powdered rice cultivation area is 20 hectares or more.
Applications can be made under two types: education and consulting support projects, and facilities and equipment support projects. Selection is made through evaluations by local governments and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. All organizations selected as cultivation complexes will receive ▲ customized production technology per complex ▲ strategic crop direct payments ▲ government purchase of all powdered rice production ▲ Baromi2 seeds support.
