Gwanak-gu Opens New Cultural Classes Easy for Everyone to Learn
Starting this May, new classes ‘Gobeop Class’ and ‘Smartphone Photography Class’ will be opened... Participants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis year-round
Recruiting new members for the ‘Mandolin Orchestra’ playing mandolin, mandola, etc., and the ‘Boys and Girls Choir’
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will open and operate new courses, ‘Gobeop Class’ and ‘Smartphone Photography Class,’ at the Gwanak Cultural Center’s affiliated cultural school starting this May to promote hobby development and leisure activities for residents.
The ‘Gobeop Class’ aims to inherit and develop the traditional Korean folk music style of Pansori Gobeop and will be held every Tuesday from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
The lecture will be delivered by instructor Jeong Dongjae, a holder of Intangible Cultural Property No. 25 for Pansori Gobeop and winner of the Grand Prize in the Master Drummer category at the 17th Gongju Park Dongjin Pansori Master Drumming Competition, offering high-quality instruction.
The ‘Smartphone Photography Class’ focuses on photo and video production programs using digital devices and will be held every Monday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The instructor, Han Janghoon, who is an education qualification director at the Korea Professional Photographers Association, plans to explain in an easy-to-understand way the secrets to taking great photos easily with a smartphone for everyone.
The district expects these ‘Gobeop Class’ and ‘Smartphone Photography Class’ programs to be very popular, as residents have eagerly awaited their continuous opening.
Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through in-person visits, and detailed information such as tuition fees for each course can be confirmed by phone at the Gwanak Cultural Center office or on the website.
Additionally, the Gwanak Cultural Center is continuously recruiting members for the ‘Mandolin Orchestra,’ which plays mandolin, mandola, mandolin cello, and guitar, as well as the ‘Boys and Girls Choir’ for elementary school students in grades 2 to 5.
In September, based on their honed skills, a joint concert titled ‘Generational Harmony Music Concert’ featuring the Mandolin Orchestra and the Boys and Girls Choir will be held, followed by a talent donation ‘Healing Music Concert’ performance targeting local hospitals.
