Unification Ministry: "North Korea Frustrated Over Strengthening of Nuclear Deterrence?"
The government dismissed Kim Yo-jong, the North Korean Workers' Party Deputy Director's fierce criticism of the South Korea-U.S. summit as "audacious hypocrisy."
An official from the Ministry of Unification stated to the press corps on the 29th, "We condemn North Korea for making groundless claims in an audacious manner through the statement by Deputy Director Kim Yo-jong regarding the recent South Korea-U.S. summit," adding, "The fact that they hastily came up with such unfounded claims immediately after the Washington Declaration was announced reflects North Korea's anxiety and frustration over the significant strengthening of the South Korea-U.S. alliance's nuclear deterrence."
Earlier, Kim Yo-jong, in a statement released through the Korean Central News Agency on the same day, described the 'Washington Declaration' as "the concentrated product of the most hostile and aggressive anti-DPRK policy," arguing that "it will result in exposing peace and security in the Northeast Asia region and the world to even more serious risks and is truly an unacceptable act."
She particularly targeted U.S. President Joe Biden, who warned of "regime end upon nuclear attack," claiming, "He can be called a senile man whose reckless remarks show no responsibility for America's safety and future and who has no promising future." She also harshly criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol, calling him "that pathetic person who is grateful for receiving an empty declaration as a 'consideration' from the U.S."

The Ministry of Unification official emphasized, "If North Korea continues down this wrong path, it will face even stronger and overwhelming responses," adding, "Ultimately, this will only further impoverish the lives of the North Korean people." He also reiterated a warning, saying, "North Korea should understand that insulting the heads of state of South Korea and the U.S. with rude language only reveals its low level and makes it a laughingstock in the international community."
