On the 28th, the Arko·Daehangno Arts Theater of the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service (Chairman Jeong Byeong-guk) announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation to screen 'ALIVE' on the indoor mega media tower at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1.
The media tower is a rectangular cube measuring 27 meters in height, 10 meters in width, and 3.5 meters in depth, reaching the height of an eight-story building. It is the largest indoor ultra-high-definition LED display in Korea.
'ALIVE' is a work planned and produced by Arko·Daehangno Arts Theater to revive the stagnant performing arts over several years and to establish an international foothold for Korean dance films. It boasts an overwhelming status not only in terms of the size of the medium but also in aesthetic completeness. While dance films usually last about one minute, this newly produced work for the media tower screening is the first and longest in Korea, with a runtime of 2 minutes.
The work was created with the motif of 'movement, pause, and flow' in the space of the airport. The nature of time, body movements, and the fusion of traditional and modern dance sensibilities come together to complete a living landscape painting.
The Arts Council explained that the images of traditional patterns such as mountain peaks inspired by Obongdo, the sun, the moon, pine trees, water, masks, and mugunghwa (hibiscus) are shaped into modern geometry through Korean dance, contemporary dance, and ballet.
Led by chief video director Yoon Min-cheol and visual artist Park Gwi-seop, a total of 26 dancers performed, including Kim Mi-ae, Kwon Hye-ran, Balkneongkul, Kim Jae-seung, Kang Cheon-il, Kim Da-woon, and a 20-member corps de ballet. The music by geomungo player Hwang Jin-a enhanced the vitality of the moving landscape painting.
More than 50 staff members, including costume designer Jin Young-jin, hair and makeup artist Yoon Soo-young, and PD Oh Sun-myung, collaborated to realize the Ilwol Obongdo and traditional patterns in the dance film.
Chairman Jeong Byeong-guk said, “This collaboration between Arko·Daehangno Arts Theater and Incheon International Airport Corporation demonstrates an ideal combination of content and venue, enabling the Korean dance film genre to be elevated to a new level.”

An official from Incheon International Airport Corporation stated, "The viewing spots where you can enjoy the magnificent dance film are the observation spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the terminal," adding, "Since the tower is so large, the visual differences depending on the viewing position could also be a point of appreciation."
