Gyeonggi-do Holds Emergency Measures Meeting on Jeonse Damage with 31 Cities and Counties
Gyeonggi Province held an emergency countermeasure meeting with 31 cities and counties in the province and victims of jeonse (long-term lease) damage.
On the 27th, Gyeonggi Province held a video conference at the provincial government office with deputy heads of 31 cities and counties to share support measures for jeonse damage victims and requested cooperation for joint response by the cities and counties.
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, the province temporarily opened the "Gyeonggi Province Jeonse Damage Support Center" within the Gyeonggi Province Housing Welfare Center (located in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City) to provide comprehensive consultations including real estate, legal, emergency financial support, and housing support for victims of "empty jeonse" and other jeonse damages.
Since its opening, the center has conducted consultations with 144 people as of the 25th of this month. Additionally, there have been 2,559 phone inquiries and 244 people are currently waiting for consultation appointments.
Among the 144 consultees, those under 30 years old accounted for 46 people, and those in their 30s accounted for 61 people, making up 74% of the total under 30s. The scale of the damaged jeonse deposit was 108 people with deposits between 100 million KRW and 200 million KRW, accounting for 75% of the total.
At the meeting, Oh Byeong-kwon, the first deputy governor of the province, urged the cities and counties to ▲ establish their own damage consultation offices ▲ unify damage support tasks ▲ operate emergency support housing ▲ share current data related to jeonse damage.

Deputy Governor Oh emphasized, "Cases of jeonse damage are occurring collectively in several regions within Gyeonggi Province, so cooperation from the 31 cities and counties is necessary for support and prevention of jeonse damage. We will continue to make further efforts to support victims through expanding the Gyeonggi Province Damage Support Center."
