Girl group 'Fifty Fifty's hit song 'Cupid' has risen 10 spots from the previous week to rank 50 on the US Billboard main singles chart 'Hot 100.' Attention is focused on the fact that an idol who debuted under a small to mid-sized agency, rather than a major agency, has entered the Billboard chart. The word-of-mouth hit 'Cupid' has also entered domestic music sites, gaining belated popularity.
According to the music industry on the 27th, 'Cupid' first entered the latest Billboard chart 'Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100' at No. 100 on the 25th (local time), and has risen in rank to 94, 85, 60, and 50, maintaining its position on the chart for five consecutive weeks. The K-pop groups that have previously entered the Billboard Hot 100 are Wonder Girls, TWICE, BLACKPINK, BTS, and NewJeans.
In particular, it is the fastest entry into the 'Hot 100' chart among K-pop girl groups. Fifty Fifty first entered Billboard on March 7, just 123 days after their debut. This is also the shortest period for a Korean artist to enter the Billboard chart after debuting in the history of Korean popular music. The previous shortest period for a girl group to enter this chart was NewJeans, who succeeded in charting 156 days after debut with 'Ditto.'

The team name 'Fifty Fifty' means a 50 vs 50 probability, symbolizing 'ideal' and 'reality.' Additionally, the group hopes that if they are '50,' their fans will be '50' as well, together making a perfect '100.'
The members are four: Kina, Saena, Sio, and Aran. The group consists of one 20-year-old and three 18-year-olds. Saena participated in 'Dancing High' in 2018 when she was 15. Kina had released an OST for a drama before debuting and has consistently pursued her dream of stardom by knocking on the doors of the entertainment industry.
According to an MBC interview, since they are not with a major agency, they were able to communicate quickly with producers. Through this process, they had many opportunities to participate in the album production process.
Member Sio said, "Because we are with a small agency, we were able to build a close relationship quickly by talking directly with the producers, and we were able to participate more in the music." Another member, Saena, said at a press conference on the 13th regarding their entry into the US Billboard 'Hot 100,' "We will continuously show our own color and work hard. While the members actively participated in album production to create their unique team color, the agency diligently analyzed the market. Jeon Hongjun, CEO of Attract, is known to have monitored as many as 300 songs for Fifty Fifty. Jeon reportedly met with local US record producers and received evaluations on the carefully selected songs.
The resulting song 'Cupid' is approaching 34 million views on YouTube as of the 27th. On the social media platform TikTok, over 2 million posts have used the double-speed version of 'Cupid' as background music, and posts tagged with '#CupidChallenge' have exceeded 100 million, gaining massive popularity.
