The military authorities received related tips and searched the soldiers' barracks. They then secured marijuana from the ceiling of the building and lockers, and filed criminal charges against those involved. One reservist who has already been discharged is under investigation by the police. It was found that they secretly smoked marijuana in places like the shower room during early morning hours when there were no people around.
It was also confirmed that they sold marijuana to other soldiers. Accordingly, investigations are ongoing to determine if there are any additional parties involved.
The military inspects delivery packages received by soldiers to check for prohibited items, and if suspicious items are found, they proceed with a detailed inspection of the contents with the soldier's consent.
However, in their case, the marijuana was disguised as pill-form nutritional supplements, making it difficult to identify as marijuana just by appearance.
Inspections of items brought in via delivery within the military, as well as soldiers' belongings during leave or after returning from outings, are relatively simple compared to inspections at some public facilities, such as X-ray equipment used during airport immigration processes.
