Previously, in November last year, President Yoon had a video conference with Musk to discuss investment cooperation plans. President Yoon requested Tesla to invest in Korea regarding the 'Gigafactory' (electric vehicle production facility) Tesla plans to establish in Asia, and Musk evaluated Korea as "one of the top priority investment candidates." At that time, President Yoon listened to Tesla's plan to build a Gigafactory producing finished electric vehicles in the Asian region in the future. In response, he explained Korea's world-class automotive industry ecosystem and investment conditions and requested investment.
During this meeting as well, President Yoon emphasized, "Korea possesses top-level manufacturing robots and highly skilled personnel," and stated, "Korea is the country where Tesla can achieve the highest efficiency in operating a Gigafactory." He also expressed his willingness, saying, "If Tesla decides to invest, we will actively support site selection, manpower, tax benefits, and so on." President Yoon personally handed over a specially produced brochure related to attracting the Gigafactory.
