"‘Ecotourism’ is Still Taehwagang... Ministry of Environment Designates Ecotourism Area for 4 Consecutive Times"
Operation Evaluation Every 3 Years, Far Exceeding the Benchmark Score
Taehwagang has been designated as an ecological tourism area by the Ministry of Environment for the fourth consecutive time.
Ulsan City announced on the 27th that the Taehwagang Ecological Tourism Area received a score of 92 in the Ministry of Environment's 7th ecological tourism area operation evaluation and was re-designated as an ecological tourism area.
The Taehwagang Ecological Tourism Area refers to the 5.04㎢ section from Samhogyo Bridge to Myeongchongyo Bridge. Since being designated as one of the nation's 12 major ecological tourism areas in 2013, it has been re-designated in 2016 and 2019, making it the fourth consecutive designation as an ecological tourism area.
To revitalize the Taehwagang Ecological Tourism Area, Ulsan City has implemented ▲seasonal customized Taehwagang ecological tourism programs ▲operation of eco-friendly electric buses called Migratory Bird Travel Buses ▲operation of a water circulation system to respond to climate change ▲waste management including avoiding the use of disposable products ▲bird monitoring and biodiversity activities in Taehwagang.

These efforts by Ulsan City received a high evaluation in the 7th operation evaluation held in December last year, earning a score of 92, far exceeding the re-designation benchmark score of 70.
According to the Natural Environment Conservation Act, the Ministry of Environment conducts an ecological tourism area operation evaluation every three years to determine whether to re-designate the areas.
