Gwangju Cultural Foundation Hosts 'Lecture Concert' Meeting Local Notable Figures
May 4th, Gong Seon-ok's 'Ways of Dealing with Evil' First Stage
A venue has been arranged in Gwangju where people can meet local prominent figures, hear stories about the May 18 Democratic Uprising, and enjoy performances.
The Gwangju Cultural Foundation (CEO Hwang Poong-nyeon) announced on the 26th that the "Bitgoeul Convergence Lecture Concert" will be held every Thursday at 7:30 PM until June 15, at the small performance hall on the 5th floor of Bitgoeul Art Space.
Through the Bitgoeul Convergence Lecture Concert, six prominent figures from the local culture and arts sector will be invited to present various stories and performances centered on the theme of the May 18 Gwangju Uprising.
On May 4, writer Gong Seon-ok will open the first stage with a lecture titled "Ways of Coping with Evil."
Born in Gokseong, Jeollanam-do, she debuted in 1991 with the novella "Seed Fire" and received the 13th Shin Dong-yup Creative Fund in 1995, the 12th Today's Young Artist Award in 2004, and the Manhae Literary Award in 2009.
Her major works include the novels Thirty Left Behind in Oji-ri, Seasons, Red Cloth, Come to the Sorghum Field, Wandering Family, Yeongran, When I Was the Most Beautiful, Where Did That Song Come From?, the short story collections Bloom, Daffodil, A Wonderful Life, Cheerful Night Road, Eunju's Movie, and the essay collections Setting Out at Forty, Happy Dinner, and I Cried in the Field of Chinese Milk Vetch.

Nemes, 2016)."

The event is open to anyone aged 7 and above, and admission is free. Reservations (limited to the first 100 people) can be made by phone in advance.
