Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Opens 30,000 Public Software Licenses
Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Kakao Participation
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Copyright Commission announced on the 26th that they will open approximately 30,000 open-source software license information records in collaboration with Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Kakao. On the same day, they signed an agreement for sharing and cooperation, and from October, each company will independently provide the information they have built. The related information will be available for free to anyone.

Jeon Byeong-geuk, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "The core of building an ecosystem of open growth in the software field is open source," adding, "By expanding corporate participation and government support, we will reduce legal risks for small and medium-sized enterprises and enhance the overall competitiveness of the software industry." He continued, "Software is highly integrated with various fields such as games, webtoons, smart tourism, and sports science, so this will also help improve the creativity and competitiveness of K-Culture in the future."
