Use Busan's Popular Communication Character 'Bugi' for Your Business... Free Application for Copyright Property Rights Available
Busan City will continue the free use project of the city communication character 'Bugi' copyright property rights this year as well.
The city communication character 'Bugi' copyright property rights opening project is a program that allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small business owners located in Busan to use the copyright property rights of the Busan city communication character Bugi for profit-making activities.
This project was established not only to increase citizen accessibility to the Bugi character by producing and selling online and offline goods by local companies and small business owners in Busan but also to lead the revitalization of the local economy through these activities.
The city has promoted this project twice annually so far, but as Bugi gained great popularity nationwide and worldwide through promotional activities for Expo 2030 Busan, inquiries from those wishing to participate surged. Accordingly, starting this year, the city plans to promote this project twice a year.
The first application period will be until May 31, and the second application period will be from November 1 to November 30.
The copyright property rights usage target is SMEs or small business owners headquartered in Busan. To apply, applicants must submit an application form, business registration certificate, SME (or small business owner) confirmation, and tax payment certificate. After internal review by Busan City, if the use is approved based on the submitted documents, the applicant signs the terms of use.
The application form can be downloaded, and detailed application methods can be checked on the usage application guide page on the Busan City website.
Once usage approval is granted, the initial usage period is one year. However, if no issues such as violations of the terms of use occur, the usage period can be extended by three years at a time with no limit on the number of extensions.
In particular, since this project is promoted for the purpose of revitalizing the local economy, the city plans to review allowing maximum utilization except for products that cannot be sold to minors such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco, or products that violate social norms.
Currently, a total of 35 companies are utilizing Bugi copyright property rights and achieving various results. Content Core, the creator of the Bugi character, plans to operate a character booth using Bugi at Art Busan, held from May 4 to 7, and is conducting various businesses such as selling emoticon keyboards through the Play Keyboard app.
'Modara' has achieved results such as ▲exporting Bugi stationery to Hamburg, Germany ▲planned entry into Qoo10 and Amazon ▲opening an unmanned goods shop in Kolon Sea Cloud Hotel, while 'Shaconne' is holding the 'Korea's first opera children's song' performance featuring Bugi at Eulsukdo Cultural Center. This performance sold out all shows through May within six hours of ticket sales opening, showing a hot response.
Also, Bugi is used as the main character in the outdoor mission game 'Metro Great Exploration' conducted by Dia Egg, increasing participants' interest. The local famous bakery brand 'Adela7' saw a 22.1% increase in sales after introducing Bugi on the Dongbaek bread packaging.
Additionally, Cosmile Corporation and ATC Korea are selling tourism souvenirs using Bugi at major local souvenir shops such as LCT and Gimhae Airport Duty-Free Shop.
