Pulmuone Launches 'Artisan'... Introduces 3 Premium Pasta Varieties
Joint Development with Global Pasta Brand Barilla
Pulmuone Foods announced on the 26th the launch of a sub-brand ‘Artisan,’ co-developed with the Italian pasta brand 'Barilla,' and introduced three types of premium pasta.
Since July 2019, Pulmuone has exclusively imported and sold Barilla pasta noodles and sauces. Starting this year, they plan to release products under the new brand to introduce consumers to the authentic taste of Italian traditional cuisine through pasta. The Artisan pasta products were launched with the intention of allowing consumers to easily enjoy Italian-style pasta at home, based on traditional Italian recipes and cooking methods.
Before the launch of Artisan, Pulmuone conducted numerous consumer tests and recipe developments for about a year in collaboration with Barilla. Italian local chefs researched new recipes tailored for Korean consumers, putting great effort into creating flavors that suit Korean tastes while staying true to authentic pasta standards.
The sauces used in the products contain 100% Italian crushed tomatoes and truffles, along with other ingredients produced in Italy, aiming to capture the unique taste and aroma experienced locally. Additionally, the sauce is made using the traditional Soffritto method, slowly saut?ing fresh ingredients such as onions and celery until golden, enhancing the natural flavors of the raw materials to create a deep and sophisticated umami taste.
The pasta noodles, the foundation of the dish, are also differentiated. Only Barilla pasta made from the highest quality durum wheat, strictly managed and cultivated at over 10,000 farms contracted with Barilla, is used. Furthermore, the pasta can be easily and simply enjoyed with a one-pan cooking method, where the noodles are cooked together with the sauce for just 1 minute and 30 seconds without boiling separately in water.

The first products under Artisan include three types of pasta reflecting the characteristics of various Italian regions: ‘Meat Ragu,’ ‘Ricotta Rose,’ and ‘Mushroom Cream.’ The Neapolitan-style ‘Meat Ragu Pasta’ maximizes flavor with tender meat and onions saut?ed until golden to bring out sweetness and umami. The Sicilian-style ‘Ricotta Rose Pasta’ emphasizes creaminess by adding fresh ricotta cheese, fresh cream, and tangy tomatoes. The Piedmont-style ‘Mushroom Cream Pasta’ features a rich harmony of truffle oil and the deep aroma of mushrooms combined with cream, creating an exquisite blend of noodles and sauce.
