Why Are Yeongdeungpo-gu Welfare and Cultural Facility Donations Gaining Momentum?
Yeongdeungpo-gu to Conduct ‘Systematic Management Service for Donated Facilities’ for Efficient Utilization and Management of Donated Facilities
From Status Survey, Resident-Customized Demand and Supply Matching, to Establishing Operation Standards and System Improvement
Comprehensive Management Plan to Improve Residents’ Quality of Life and Fully Promote Yeongdeungpo-style Urban Planning
Going forward, customized donations of welfare and cultural facilities needed by residents are expected to become more active in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will carry out the ‘Systematic Management Service for Donated Facilities’ to establish integrated management standards for donated facilities and supply resident-customized facilities.
Recently, as development projects in aging residential areas and semi-industrial zones have increased, the types of donations have diversified beyond uniform donations such as roads and parks to include various facilities like welfare, culture, jobs, as well as land, buildings, and cash. However, due to the lack of clear standards or guidelines for designating the use of donated facilities, it was not possible to create various facilities tailored to resident demand.
Accordingly, the district signed a service contract worth 160 million KRW this month to systematically manage donated facilities and utilize them as convenience facilities for residents.
The service includes ▲basic status survey of donated facilities ▲analysis of related laws and systems ▲establishment of an integrated management plan linking resident demand and facility supply ▲development of operation plans for customized demand-supply matching ▲and proposals for improving the cash donation system.
Through the status survey of donated facilities, a demand-supply matching guideline reflecting future resident demand will be prepared, and Yeongdeungpo-style urban planning and urban maintenance projects prioritizing residents will be promoted with speed.
Furthermore, it is expected to enhance the public nature of urban planning, increase resident satisfaction through various donated facilities for resident convenience, and ultimately achieve budget savings.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Through this service, customized donations of welfare and cultural facilities needed by residents will become more active,” adding, “We will do our best to efficiently promote urban planning and maintenance projects, improve residents’ quality of life, and ensure they can feel the changes.”

Ensures No Safety Accidents at Long-Awaited May Festivals and Events Amid Daily Life Recovery
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the ‘Safety Policy Working Coordination Committee’ to focus on safety management for spring regional festivals and events held in May.
With May at the peak of spring’s charm, various regional festivals and events are held in Gwangjin-gu. As these festivals and events are being held for the first time in a while with the recovery of daily life, a large number of visitors are expected.
Accordingly, the district formed the ‘Safety Policy Working Coordination Committee’ chaired by the deputy mayor to conduct thorough reviews of safety management plans for each festival and event to ensure accident-free operations.
The main review items included ▲event plans, traffic control measures, and appropriateness of subsidiary events ▲appropriateness of maximum venue capacity and countermeasures if capacity is exceeded ▲organization and operation of comprehensive safety management teams ▲response plans in case of safety incidents ▲appropriateness of evacuation plans for sudden accidents due to temporary crowding ▲and other contingency plans for unforeseen situations.
On the 17th, the committee reviewed safety management by sector for the ‘2023 Han River Light Show (Drone Light Show)’ held four times from April to May at Ttukseom Hangang Park.
As this is the first drone event targeting citizens, the committee focused on ▲measures to prevent drone crashes and accidents ▲plans for securing and deploying safety management personnel ▲and crowd control measures. The city and district will supplement the identified issues and conduct joint on-site inspections with related agencies such as police, fire, and electricity before the festival to verify that the issues have been properly addressed.
Then, at the review held on the 18th, the committee discussed safety management plans for the ‘50th Anniversary Event of Seoul Children’s Grand Park (Dreamer 50 Show)’ and the ‘Seoul Fairy Tale Festival.’
For the Children’s Grand Park anniversary event and Seoul Fairy Tale Festival held from Children’s Day through the weekend, the district specially formed a ‘Safety Management Council’ and plans to hold regular weekly meetings with related agencies until the events to supplement safety measures.
