This came four days after the court dismissed Kang's arrest warrant on the 21st. The prosecution is reportedly conducting supplementary investigations regarding the charges stated in the arrest warrant against Kang.
The prosecution believes that Kang conspired with Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Gwansuk and former Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Party Lee Junggeun (indicted and detained) from March to May 2021 to distribute a total of 94 million won to lawmakers and others to ensure the election of former party leader Song Younggil at the leadership election. Among this, the prosecution has identified that Kang procured 80 million won from businessmen in the Daejeon area. Kang denies most of these allegations.
After the supplementary investigation, the prosecution plans to reapply for an arrest warrant for Kang as soon as possible. In addition to Kang, the investigation will focus on summoning Park, who served as an aide to former leader Song, and businessman Kim, a 'sponsor' who provided money to Kang, to strengthen the investigation into the specific circumstances of the fundraising and money delivery.

With former leader Song returning to the country the day before, the prosecution is expected to intensify the investigation, as concerns over organized evidence destruction have increased.
