100% Wage Provided During Training Period... Qualification Obtained After Completion
Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, is set to officially operate the ‘E-9 Visa Foreign Worker Specialized Training Program’ in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
According to Samho Heavy Industries, this program was initiated to efficiently supply E-9 foreign workers, who hold non-professional employment visas, to the field in response to the increased workforce demand following the recent rise in shipbuilding orders.

The first class began on the 24th and will run for 20 days until the 23rd of next month at the company’s technical training center. A total of 22 foreign workers from partner companies are being trained, including 10 in the hull assembly course and 12 in the hull painting course. The plan is to conduct training for approximately 360 people across six courses within this year.
The training includes Korean language education and is operated according to job-specific curricula. Upon completion, support is provided for acquiring certifications in areas such as welding, fitting, scaffolding (foreman), and aerial work platforms.
Upon completing the training, workers will benefit from a six-month reduction in the career requirement when converting to long-term employment under special provisions. Companies will also receive various incentives, including additional points when issuing employment permits and consideration for raising the employment limit for E-9 visa foreign workers.
During the training period, the government will also support wages. It will verify whether the employer pays the regular wage and provide support amounting to 150% of the minimum wage plus weekly holiday allowances.
Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has applied for government funding to participate in this specialized training program and secured a budget of approximately 1.3 billion KRW from the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The company plans to invest in upgrading insufficient training facilities and equipment.
A company representative stated, “We will actively support E-9 visa foreign workers to quickly acquire skilled techniques, settle stably in the region, and grow into professional personnel.”
