In celebration of Family Month, more than 1,100 retailers including large supermarkets will hold events offering over 50% discounts on Korean beef. This is part of the government's domestic demand revitalization measures aimed at providing consumers with affordable domestic livestock products.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 25th that, together with the Mandatory Livestock Industry Fund Committee and the Dairy Promotion Committee, it will hold the '2023 Korea Livestock Expo' to promote the consumption of domestic livestock products. The discount events will run until May 17 at large supermarkets, online malls, and restaurants. Discount locations can be checked on the websites of the Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Service, the Korean Beef Fund Management Committee, and the Korean Pork Fund Management Committee.
Korean beef will continue the 'So Surprise 2023 Korea Hanwoo Sale' that began in February during this period. On the Hanwoo Fund online marketplace, discounts will be available from April 27 to May 2, and at over 1,100 locations including large supermarkets, Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, and online malls from May 4 to 17, offering more than 50% off. Additionally, 92 Hanwoo specialty restaurants operated by Nonghyup under the name 'Hanwoo Plaza' will hold a 20% discount event.
For Korean pork, discount events will be held at large supermarkets and Nonghyup Hanaro Mart, and dining discounts will be offered at ‘Handon Certified Restaurants’ that use only domestic pork and have received certification from the Korean Pork Fund.
Furthermore, to mark Labor Day in May and 'Ori Day' (May 2), the Livestock Fund Committee will host on-site livestock product sales events around Banpo Hangang Park in Seoul. Temporary stores will open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 1 and 2, featuring cooking lectures by famous chefs, livestock product tasting events, and discounts of up to 50% compared to market prices.
