Mokam Research Institute and Seoul National University Hospital Join Forces to Develop AI-Based Rare Disease Knowledge Base
Mokam Life Science Research Institute announced on the 25th that it has signed a 'business agreement for the development of a rare disease knowledge base using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms' with Seoul National University Hospital.

Through this agreement, both parties plan to develop a knowledge base that goes beyond simply compiling a database of information by accumulating and interpreting information on the causes, symptoms, and genetic diseases of rare diseases to assist in diagnosis, treatment, and drug development. To this end, Mokam Research Institute will form a team of bioinformatics and AI experts to develop algorithms for building the knowledge base. Seoul National University Hospital will review data that can be practically utilized and serve as key opinion leaders (KOLs).
With this agreement, Mokam Research Institute plans to build a research foundation for conquering rare diseases by forming a team of bioinformatics and AI experts from leading domestic universities and research institutes, working together with Seoul National University Hospital.

Director Kim Seon stated, “Through this agreement, we will contribute to public health improvement by enabling patients to quickly receive help from new diagnostic methods and treatments based on the information built into the knowledge base.” Park Kyungsoo, Head of Clinical Genomics Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital, said, “We hope that the integration of the clinical research capabilities of the Seoul National University Hospital Rare Disease Center and the AI technology of Mokam Life Science Research Institute will help provide efficient treatment for patients with rare diseases.”
