Gumi City Welfare, 'Informing, Sharing, and Enjoying'
One-Room Apartment Dense Areas, Welfare Crisis Households, and Mobile Welfare Counseling Conducted
Local Social Security Council Strengthens Discovery and Connection of Welfare Blind Spots
Gumi City in Gyeongbuk is operating a ‘Visiting Mobile Welfare Center’ that builds a dense social safety net and focuses on discovering and supporting welfare crisis households to become a safe and happy city.
The Visiting Mobile Welfare Center project is a 2023 specialized project of the Gumi City Comprehensive Welfare Center. Two centers, Gumi and Geumo Comprehensive Welfare Centers, visit areas densely populated with one-room apartments within the city to discover welfare crisis households, provide guidance on various welfare services, and connect customized welfare services through specialized consultations by related welfare service organizations in mental health, legal advice, job counseling, and other fields according to the situation, sector, and target.
The Gumi Comprehensive Welfare Center operates every Wednesday from 2 PM to 5 PM in Indong-dong, Jinmi-dong, and Yangpo-dong areas. The Gumi Integrated Addiction Management Center and the Home-based Elderly Integrated Support Center participate to provide citizens with professional diagnostic tests and customized welfare consultations in the fields of depression and addiction (gambling and alcohol). The Geumo Comprehensive Welfare Center operates every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Friday from 2 PM to 5 PM in Wonpyeong-dong, Seonjuwonnam-dong, and Sangmosagok-dong areas. It runs various welfare service institutions’ mobile welfare experience booths, such as the ‘Living Goods Sharing Center,’ where residents can experience massage chairs and blood pressure monitors and borrow daily tools, and the ‘Resident Participation Workshop,’ a resident experience program (planting, food packages, etc.) sponsored by the Gumi Facilities Corporation.
Additionally, the community security councils in eup, myeon, and dong areas, which are at the forefront of village welfare, participate to encourage local residents to discover welfare blind spots. Furthermore, close exchanges with various welfare-related organizations and volunteer groups are expected to create a synergy effect by activating the local resource network.
