KOTRA-Supported K-Innovation Company Wins at the US Addy Awards
Gold Prize (1), Silver Prize (1), and Bronze Prizes (2) Awarded
On the 23rd, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced that four domestic innovative companies supported by KOTRA received one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze awards at the Edison Awards held on the 20th (local time) in the United States.
The Edison Awards began in 1987 to honor the spirit of inventor Edison. Now known as the "Oscar of Innovation," it is regarded as the most prestigious invention award locally. With over 3,000 industry experts conducting a fair evaluation process for more than six months, companies that win are recognized for their technological prowess and innovation in the global market.
This year, about 4,700 companies worldwide competed in the Edison Awards. In Korea, a total of 13 small and medium enterprises, including four supported by KOTRA, made it to the Top 80 finalists in February. Ultimately, five companies received Gold, four Silver, and four Bronze awards. Among the Gold winners was company A's 'Professional Smart Wearable Airbag (C3)' in the 'Personal Technology' category, and among the Silver winners was company B's 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Food Scanner' in the 'Food and Agricultural Advancement' category.
KOTRA is conducting a global awards support project to assist domestic innovative companies in expanding overseas. This includes holding online briefings to share know-how on winning innovation awards and providing mentoring such as application review. For companies likely to win, part of the award application fees is reimbursed through an additional selection process. The support targets CES Innovation Awards and Edison Awards.
