On the same day, Governor Kim posted on his social media (SNS) under the title "Responding to the Climate Crisis, Gyeonggi Province Will Lead South Korea's Change," stating, "As we mark the fifty-third 'Earth Day,' we will operate a 'Climate Change Week' under the slogan 'Starting with Me, Green-Green Earth' for one week starting today."
He continued, "We will carry out various greenhouse gas reduction activities such as a secondhand goods flea market and a complete ban on single-use cups within government buildings," and introduced that "Gyeonggi Province public institutions will also practice 'One Institution, One Action.'"
He also expressed concern, saying, "Climate change is leading to human casualties and property damage," and "Extreme droughts, heavy rains, and wildfires are not someone else's problem, and vulnerable groups will be exposed to greater threats."
Furthermore, he added, "Responding to the climate crisis is also a future growth engine," and "Climate tech can foster advanced industries and create jobs."
However, Governor Kim emphasized, "It is not enough to be reluctantly dragged along by the international community's atmosphere," and "Gyeonggi Province will respond on a different level from the government."
