“Eoreusin Eodi Gyeseyo!” Miryang Police Conduct Overnight Search for 70s Dementia Woman
"My wife, who has dementia, went out riding her bicycle this morning and still hasn't come back. Please help us find her!"
On the evening of the 3rd, around 7:40 PM, the Miryang Police Station in Gyeongnam received a report from a husband searching for his wife in her 70s.
According to the Gyeongnam Police Agency, the police immediately began a search, but since the elderly woman did not have a mobile phone, tracking her location was difficult, leaving them no choice but to check CCTV footage to trace her movements.

Communicating with the control center, officers rushed to the location where she was last seen, but she was nowhere to be found, and night was falling.
Patrol cars in the area, fire and ambulance teams, detectives, the women and youth division police, on-duty officers, and even the police chief focused on finding the elderly woman through the night.

They searched the expected area along her route, thoroughly checking rural paths and waterways, considering the possibility she might have fallen in, but she was not found. Due to the sparsely populated rural roads, securing additional CCTV footage was also difficult.
Early the next morning, the elderly woman was seen crossing a bridge on CCTV.
A nearby patrol car immediately rushed to the scene, but she had already moved elsewhere.
At that moment, one officer said, "Since she has dementia, she probably walked straight ahead," prompting the police to begin a linear search.

Ten minutes later, as a police officer parked his car in front of a levee path and walked up, he spotted the elderly woman.
She was found around 6:30 AM on the 4th, 11 hours after the search began, walking on the riverside grass beyond the levee path.
The officer rushed over, took off his jumper to wrap around her, and gently helped her into an ambulance with paramedics, as she had walked about 15 km without eating anything all day and was frightened after getting lost.
The elderly woman was transported to a nearby hospital, where her health was checked, and she safely returned to her family.
