Chosun University Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Smart Specialization Infrastructure Project'
Expected Contribution to Strengthening Regional Dental Industry Competitiveness
Chosun University has been finally selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's ‘Smart Specialization Infrastructure Establishment Project.’ It is expected to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the local dental industry.
Chosun University announced on the 20th that its ‘Clinical Verification-Linked Dental Medical Materials and Components Industry Advancement Project (Principal Investigator Son Mi-kyung)’ was finally selected for the 2023 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Smart Specialization Infrastructure Establishment Project.
The Smart Specialization Infrastructure Establishment Project is a national public project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy aimed at strengthening regional competitiveness and balanced development of national strategic industries.
The project is led by Chosun University Dental Hospital and promoted through a consortium with Gwangju Technopark Foundation and Gwangju Health University. The project period is until December 31, 2025, with a total budget of 9.17 billion KRW.
This project aims to enhance regional industrial competitiveness by building equipment infrastructure and an operational technology platform to support product advancement of companies related to dental medical materials and components, based on the dental industry innovation resources and capabilities established in the region.
Furthermore, to resolve difficulties companies face in market entry after product approval, the project differentiates itself by providing clinical-linked usability evaluation and support for connection to global industrial networks. This will create a new industry-academia-hospital-research model led and supported by the hospital, driving growth in the local manufacturing industry and solidifying the foundation for innovative growth in the regional dental medical industry.
Additionally, this project is expected to give further momentum to Gwangju City's mid- to long-term development strategy to leap forward as a ‘2030 Global MedCity.’
