This agreement aims to move away from the existing government-led one-time consultative body and establish a company-led community for information exchange and utilization of technological capabilities among special zone companies.
The agreement includes joint efforts to establish a mid- to long-term growth model and strategy for the Small Giant Special Zone, convergence joint research through participation in Small Giant Special Zone research and development (R&D), communication with various groups of companies, formation of friendly relations, and the establishment of a mutual cooperation system among core technology institutions, local governments, and special zone companies.
Thirty companies joined the enterprise community through applications submitted in January and February.
The project group reorganized five divisions?‘RE (Renewable Energy)’, ‘SG (Smart Grid)’, ‘EMS (Energy Management System)’, ‘ESS (Energy Storage System)’, and ‘LEDS (Low Carbon)’?in line with the regional specialization promotion project, the main business of the Small Giant Special Zone, and selected representative leader companies for each division.
The newly selected leader companies, Yuseong Gyejeon Co., Ltd. (CEO Jinrak Lee) and Eco Pure Cell Co., Ltd. (CEO Hyangmi Kim), will lead the activation of the community together with existing leader companies.
The city and KEPCO plan to strive to build a co-growth system through support for special zone companies, such as securing sales channels and linking energy industry demand and supply.
Kim Songhwan, head of KEPCO’s Small Giant Special Zone Development Project Group, said, “The enterprise community agreement aims to support the growth of special zone companies and drive regional growth through technological cooperation between core technology institutions and special zone companies, as well as revitalizing ties with Jeollanam-do and Naju City.”
He added, “With 71 companies and five divisions this year, expanding the pool of companies and subdividing the divisions, we expect various collaborations and the development of joint research projects among companies.”
After the signing ceremony, the first enterprise community council meeting for each division was held.
The meeting included introductions of division companies, selection of this year’s Small Giant Special Zone companies, suggestions for the timing and programs of workshops, and presentations on difficulties and improvements for the 2022 project.
