'KPGA Golfzon Open in Jeju'... Hometown Players Challenge for Victory
Five Players Including Player Gokuntaek to Participate
The Golfzon Open in Jeju tournament (total prize money of 700 million KRW, winner's prize of 140 million KRW) is being held for four days from the 20th at Golfzon County Ora in Jeju Island, where players from Jeju have entered the fierce competition aiming for victory in their hometown.
This tournament features five participants from Jeju: Ko Guntaek (23, Daebo Construction), Hyun Jeonghyeop (40, Kukon), Choi Seungbin (21, CJ), Ha Choonghoon (33), and Han Jaemin (23). Especially, Ko Guntaek, who won his first tour victory last week at the DB Insurance Promy Open after four years since his tour debut and is currently leading the Genesis points and prize money rankings, is the main focus of this tournament.

Ko Guntaek, originally from Seogwipo, Jeju, still resides on Jeju Island and has participated six times in tournaments held in Jeju from 2017 through last year.
Ko said, “I have played many times at the tournament venue, Golfzon County Ora. I am confident, and since I achieved my first win, my goal now is multiple wins. It would be great to win twice in my hometown. Having won once and being able to play in front of hometown fans makes me even more excited. I definitely want to win this tournament and become a pride of Jeju residents,” expressing his ambition.
The most recent Jeju-born player to win a KPGA Korean Tour event held in Jeju was Kang Sunghoon (36). At that time, he won as an amateur.
Meanwhile, for this Golfzon Open in Jeju tournament, anyone can enter for free by wearing a wristband engraved with gallery guidelines and a daily raffle serial number before admission. Various prizes will be provided to attending gallery members through a raffle.
