Goheung-gun Wins 2023 Korea Representative Brand Award

Selected as South Korea's Representative Brand in the Aerospace Industry City Sector

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on April 18 that it was selected as the winner in the ‘Aerospace Industry City’ category of the 2023 Korea Representative Brand Awards, jointly hosted by imbc, DongA.com, and Hankyung.com, and sponsored by Dong-A Ilbo and Korea Economic Daily.

The ‘2023 Korea Representative Brand Awards’ selects the most beloved top brands by consumers in each field. From February 1 to February 15, through consumer surveys based on brand characteristics such as initial awareness, auxiliary recognition, marketing activities, and brand preference, Goheung-gun was chosen as the top representative brand in Korea in the aerospace industry city category.

In particular, Goheung-gun was designated as a ‘Launch Vehicle Specialized Zone’ within the space industry cluster last December, and on March 15 this year, the ‘Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex’ was designated as a new national industrial complex site, solidifying its image as a leading aerospace city and earning high evaluations from consumers.

Meanwhile, Goheung-gun is promoting the establishment of a large-scale long-term project to build a space launch vehicle industry cluster centered around the Naro Space Center by 2031, emphasizing a strategy focused on fostering the space launch vehicle industry.

The main projects include ▲establishment of the space launch vehicle national industrial complex ▲construction of key private space development infrastructure such as private launch pads ▲building a launch vehicle technology commercialization center ▲construction of solid launch vehicle-related facilities ▲creation of the Space Launch Vehicle Science Complex, an educational and experiential facility in the field of space science, among 24 core tasks in 8 areas, with an investment plan of 1.6 trillion KRW.

Governor Gong Young-min said, “Winning this representative brand award will further enhance the brand value of Goheung as a central aerospace city,” adding, “We will steadily promote the space industry cluster construction project and the establishment of the national industrial complex so that Goheung-gun can become a growth hub for the space launch vehicle industry.”
