Song Young-gil, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 19th (local time) that he would "announce on Saturday (the 22nd)" regarding the possibility of an 'early return' related to the 2021 party convention money envelope allegations.

On the morning of the same day, Song met with Korean correspondents in front of the ESCP Business School in Paris, France, and was reserved in response to questions about his return. He has been staying in France since December last year.
When asked if the reason for scheduling the press conference late was to contemplate his position, Song replied, "It was originally scheduled that way from the beginning."
Earlier, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "Recently, there have been unfavorable reports regarding our party's last convention," and requested Song's early return.

The prosecution is investigating allegations that during the 2021 Democratic Party convention, illegal funds amounting to 94 million won were distributed within the party to support Song's election, led by Kang Rae-gu, chairman of the Korea Audit Association, and Yoon Kwan-seok, member of the Democratic Party of Korea.
