Korea National Oil Corporation Presents Research Achievements at Spring Geological Science and Technology Joint Conference
Sharing Gas Development and CCS Technology with Academia
'Donghae 1 Gas Field Carbon Dioxide Underground Storage'
Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dong-seop) has attracted attention by presenting research results on petroleum and gas development technology and carbon dioxide storage using the East Sea gas field.
On the 19th, the Oil Corporation participated in the 2023 Spring Joint Conference on Geological Science and Technology held at BEXCO in Busan and announced these research achievements.
On this day, the corporation presented research results on topics related to oil and gas development and CCS, such as "Analysis of Regional Characteristics of Reservoir and Cap Rock for Stability Review of CO2 Underground Storage Using Donghae-1 Gas Field" and "Geological Characteristics and Evaluation Study of Low-Resistivity Reservoirs," sharing them with the academic community.
The corporation also held a promotional booth to introduce the status of its oil and gas development projects, ongoing CO2 underground mineralization storage research projects, and the technology data database disclosure system.

Director Kwok also stated, "We will share the ongoing domestic Gwanggaeto project and ESG business cases to open a platform for win-win exchanges between the domestic industry and academia."
At this joint conference, in addition to general sessions related to traditional geological science, many recently highlighted topics were presented, including petroleum geology, CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage), active fault survey exploration technology, and planetary material dating special sessions, attracting attention.

The 2023 Spring Joint Conference on Geological Science and Technology began on the 18th and will continue until the 21st. It is sponsored by 29 member organizations, including the corporation, Korea Mine Reclamation Corporation, and Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, with participation from 15 domestic universities.
