Damyang-gun and Sinan-gun, Sisterhood Partnership for Mutual Development
Commitment to Substantial Exchange Efforts Led by the Private Sector
On the 19th, Damyang-gun and Sinan-gun in Jeollanam-do announced that they signed a sisterhood agreement for the joint development of the two local governments at the Damyang-gun conference room.
About 30 people attended the signing ceremony, including Lee Byeong-no, Mayor of Damyang-gun; Park Woo-ryang, Mayor of Sinan-gun; Choi Yong-man, Chairman of Damyang-gun Council; and Kim Hyuk-seong, Chairman of Sinan-gun Council.
The two counties pledged to build an active exchange and cooperation system across the local community, including administration, tourism, culture, and arts, and to join forces for the development and future of both cities by revitalizing private sector exchanges.
Furthermore, Damyang-gun plans to make future exchanges with sister cities, triggered by the sisterhood agreement with Sinan-gun, into practical exchanges led by the private sector rather than ceremonial exchanges such as friendly visits by local figures to major festival opening ceremonies.
Mayor Lee Byeong-no said, “We welcome the sisterhood with Sinan, the Angel’s Island where flowers bloom in all four seasons and which boasts beautiful natural scenery, together with the 50,000 citizens of Damyang-gun,” adding, “We will actively cooperate in various fields so that both cities can coexist and develop.”
