Hansol Paper's 'Eco-friendly Paper' Applied Packaging Wins Award at Packaging Expo
Hansol Paper announced on the 19th that its eco-friendly paper material 'Protego' applied to GS25 ice beverage pouches and polyethylene (PE) free coating 'Terabas' applied to Shinsegae Food's frozen cake paper packaging won the 'Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Director Award' at the 17th Packaging Exhibition.
The Korea Packaging Exhibition is an awards ceremony in the packaging sector hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Packaging Technology Center of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. It has been held since 2007 with the purpose of discovering excellent packaging and enhancing technological competitiveness. Protego and Terabas previously won awards at the 14th and 15th Packaging Exhibitions, respectively.
The GS25 ice beverage pouch replaces the conventional beverage pouches mainly made of plastic and aluminum with the paper material Protego. It was developed and submitted by ASPT. Designed by laminating film onto Protego, it reduces plastic usage by about 30% compared to existing beverage packaging materials.
Shinsegae Food's 'Eco-friendly Cake Package' is characterized by completely replacing the plastic bands used to secure cakes with paper material. The product consists of a one-touch fixing paper package and paper bands coated with Terabas, enhancing design uniformity and completeness.
