Celltrion Group announced on the 19th that it will carry out a youth allowance scholarship support project worth approximately 1.13 billion KRW this year for 2,555 underprivileged youths in the Incheon and Chungbuk regions.
The youth allowance scholarship support project provides direct allowance support to low-income and at-risk middle and high school students who are struggling to maintain their livelihoods. The Celltrion Welfare Foundation, which is responsible for sponsorship and support projects within Celltrion Group, selects recipients by accepting direct applications from middle and high schools in Incheon and Chungbuk areas.
Through the youth allowance scholarship support project, Celltrion Group has supported about 653.2 million KRW to a cumulative total of 6,532 middle and high school students from 2019 to this year. Since last year, the group has expanded the support project by increasing the number of recipients. This year as well, a fixed amount of allowance scholarship will be directly transferred monthly to the accounts of the selected youths.
In addition, the group consistently runs living expense support projects for university students, providing 500,000 KRW per semester to basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income students among university students in Incheon, and 1 million KRW per person to low-income university students under probation nationwide.
A Celltrion Group official stated, "The purpose of this project is to provide cash support to youths and university students facing difficulties in the region so that they can have allowance to freely use for personal purposes such as maintaining peer relationships." He added, "We will continue to develop customized support for students in the region and do our best to become a group that lives together with the local community."
