‘Kim Man-bae Money Deal’ Media Executive Injunction Dismissed…Court Rules “Dismissal Justified”
The court dismissed the provisional injunction request to suspend the disciplinary action filed by a media executive who was dismissed after engaging in a financial transaction with Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management.
The Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 50 (Chief Judge Park Beom-seok) on the 18th dismissed the provisional injunction request to suspend the effect of the disciplinary dismissal filed by former Hankook Ilbo reporter A against the company.
It was confirmed that A borrowed 100 million won from Kim in May 2020 to prepare funds for purchasing a house, which led to his dismissal from the media company. At that time, Hankook Ilbo stated the reason for dismissal was that the transaction did not appear to be legitimate and that A did not report it to the company even after the Daejang-dong incident surfaced.

In response, A claimed that the loan was properly borrowed with a promissory note and that the failure to pay interest was due to Kim’s detention. A filed the provisional injunction request to suspend the effect of the dismissal in February, but it was ultimately rejected.
