The 43rd Disabled Persons Day Commemoration Ceremony Held
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the 43rd Disabled Persons' Day ceremony on the 18th at Changwon Sports Park ahead of Disabled Persons' Day on the 20th.
Disabled Persons' Day, marking its 43rd anniversary this year, is a legally designated commemorative day established to deepen public understanding of people with disabilities and to enhance their motivation for rehabilitation.
The ceremony was organized by the Changwon Disabled Persons' Federation, with participation from over 1,500 people with disabilities and their families.

View original imageThe event began with pre-ceremony performances by the Nanta team of the Changwon branch of the Gyeongnam Association of the Visually Impaired and the Disabled Orchestra of Changwon Hanmaeum Hospital, followed by the reading of the Disabled Persons' Human Rights Charter, awarding of commendations to contributors to disabled welfare, the mayor's address, congratulatory speeches, and celebratory performances.

Ha Jongmok, the first deputy mayor, said, "On Disabled Persons' Day, I hope this will be a valuable opportunity to expand mutual understanding between people with and without disabilities," adding, "We promise to do our utmost in welfare policies to realize a society without exclusion and discrimination through inclusive welfare."
