NHIS "Additional Reimbursement Support for Essential Medical Devices in 11 Special Disaster Areas Including Gangneung"
The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 18th that it will provide additional benefits for damages incurred since the 2nd to residents affected in 11 areas, including Gangneung-si, Gangwon, which was declared a special disaster area due to wildfires.
Accordingly, the Service will provide additional benefits to those who lost or damaged elderly dentures, assistive devices for the disabled, and other items during emergency evacuation caused by the wildfire.
Elderly dentures can typically be remade after 7 years from the last benefit, and assistive devices for the disabled after 6 months to 6 years; however, residents of the special disaster areas who are confirmed to have been affected can receive benefits even within the durability period.
To ensure prompt support for medical devices necessary for daily life, the Service decided to omit prescription and prior approval procedures and provide immediate assistance as soon as the local government confirms the damage.
