Jeongeup-si Conducts Intensive Inspection of 81 Sites for 'National Safety Major Transformation'

Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it will conduct an intensive safety inspection for the ‘National Safety Transformation’ until June 16.

The National Safety Transformation intensive safety inspection is a nationwide preventive activity led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, involving central government ministries, local governments, public institutions, and citizens to check risk factors across society.

The city plans to form a joint public-private intensive safety inspection team and conduct safety inspections on 81 facilities until June 16.

This inspection activity will involve private experts in fields such as architecture, civil engineering, electricity, gas, and firefighting, along with related public officials, participating in a public-private joint manner.

The inspection targets include a total of 81 sites across six categories such as buildings and facilities, focusing on facilities with safety blind spots like aging structures and those prone to disasters or accidents.

Additionally, to expand citizen participation throughout the entire diagnostic process, the city plans to promote reporting via the Safety Report app and encourage self-inspections of homes and stores to spread a citizen-participatory safety culture.

To this end, autonomous safety checklists will be distributed for households, apartments, and multi-use facilities, and activation of the Safety Report app will be encouraged through neighborhood leader newsletters.

The city plans to promptly improve safety by immediately correcting minor issues on-site during inspections and issuing emergency safety measures if serious defects or risk factors are identified.

Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “Please thoroughly prepare and inspect so that citizens can live their daily lives with peace of mind,” and added, “We ask citizens to actively cooperate in inspection activities to spread a safety culture and build a safe city Jeongeup.”
