Research Alume analyzed on the 18th that NeoCrema will begin to grow significantly starting this year.

Founded in 2007, NeoCrema is a specialized company in functional food ingredients based on the microbiome. It manufactures products such as 'functional sugars' and 'functional peptides.' The company is fostering growth engines such as alternative meat and 3D food printing.

Researcher Choi Seonghwan from Research Alume explained, "NeoCrema's functional sugar products are suitable foods for the aging era," adding, "Sugar generally means table sugar, but in the field of chemistry, it refers to substances that exhibit sweetness when dissolved in water."

He continued, "Functional sugar products include Galactooligosaccharide (GOS), Palatinose, and Cyclodextrin," and added, "GOS is a type of oligosaccharide that is gaining attention as a sugar substitute." Furthermore, he emphasized, "As excessive sugar consumption has been identified as a cause of obesity and various adult diseases, the demand for oligosaccharides that provide sweetness comparable to sugar but with about 25% fewer calories is increasing."

Researcher Choi also analyzed, "The functional peptide product ‘eatless’ is gaining attention as an ingredient in diet products in Japan," explaining, "Eatless is a low-molecular yeast peptide product that has demonstrated appetite reduction and body fat reduction effects by suppressing appetite-stimulating hormones and promoting appetite-suppressing hormones through animal experiments." He added, "Diet products applying eatless have been popular products in Japanese drugstores for the past four years."

Researcher Choi introduced, "Bill Gates is scheduled to visit Korea next month to attend an international carbon neutrality seminar," and noted, "Bill Gates mentioned alternative meat as a method to respond to the climate crisis." He explained, "A large amount of carbon dioxide is emitted during the meat production stage," and added, "The purpose is to respond to the climate crisis by utilizing alternative meat that can reduce meat consumption." He emphasized, "It is known that last year they succeeded in developing cultured meat media and secured alternative meat production technology at a commercial level."

NeoCrema is estimated to achieve sales of 31.4 billion KRW and operating profit of 3.7 billion KRW this year, which represents increases of 17.6% and 164.3%, respectively, compared to last year.
