Sacheon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that Jeodo Fishing Village Cooperative has been selected as the first recipient of the ‘2023 Pilot Project for Creating a Stay-Type Fishing Village Experience Base’ organized by Gyeongsangnam-do.
On the 11th, Gyeongsangnam-do conducted an on-site evaluation of four locations in the province, including Jeodo Fishing Village Cooperative, the applicant for the project, and selected Jeodo Fishing Village Cooperative as the final recipient of the ‘2023 Pilot Project for Creating a Stay-Type Fishing Village Experience Base’.
The pilot project for creating a stay-type fishing village experience base aims to build marine tourism infrastructure by refurbishing idle facilities in fishing villages so that family groups of visitors can stay for extended periods.
Accordingly, Sacheon City will invest 1 billion KRW (450 million KRW from the provincial government, 450 million KRW from the city government, and 100 million KRW from the fishing village cooperative) to remodel the idle pension operated by Jeodo Fishing Village Cooperative to match the latest trends. Additionally, fishing experience facilities will be improved.
A representative of the fishing village cooperative said, “As the first project site selected for the pilot project to create a stay-type fishing village experience base, we will carry out this project thoroughly,” adding, “The local capacity will be strengthened, and the village will be reborn as a community with a strong sense of togetherness.”
