Dongkuk Steel acquires additional international certification for US Environmental Product Declarations
"Enhancing Eco-friendly Competitiveness"
Dongkuk Steel Luxsteel and coated steel sheets have obtained Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from UL, a global safety and environmental organization in the United States.
The international standard Environmental Product Declaration certifications are mainly represented by International EPD in Europe and UL EPD in the United States. These certifications are granted to products that quantify and disclose the environmental impact throughout the entire process, from raw material extraction to production, distribution, use, and disposal.
Dongkuk Steel completed the International EPD certification for Luxsteel and coated steel sheets (GI, GL) in Europe last December, and with the recent acquisition of UL EPD, it has enhanced its competitiveness in exporting eco-friendly steel products. UL is a global safety and environmental certification organization based in the United States. It is highly regarded for its credibility, possessing 230 testing and certification bodies worldwide and over 1,600 environmental, safety, and security certification standards.
Luxsteel and coated steel sheets account for more than half of Dongkuk Steel’s annual export sales in the cold-rolled steel sector. In March, Dongkuk Steel established its second coil center in Mexico. With the acquisition of UL EPD, it is expected that the competitiveness of color steel sheet exports in the Americas will improve.
