Ulsan Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility Expansion Project in Final Stage... Completion Scheduled for June
Daily Processing Capacity Increased by 40,000 Tons
The expansion construction of the Ulsan Bangojin Sewage Treatment Plant is entering its final stage and is scheduled to be completed in June.
On the 17th, Ulsan City announced that the 'Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility Expansion Project,' which is being promoted to treat the increasing sewage in the Buk-gu and Dong-gu areas, is progressing smoothly, including comprehensive test operations.
On the 17th at 3:30 PM, Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom is scheduled to visit the Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility expansion construction site to encourage the construction personnel. Mayor Kim will urge them to ensure safe construction implementation and thorough completion so that there are no setbacks in expanding the sewage treatment facility.
The 'Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility Expansion Project' started construction in June 2020 with a total project cost of 66.8 billion KRW (3.8 billion KRW from the national government, 63 billion KRW from the city), aiming to additionally treat 40,000 tons of domestic sewage per day, and currently shows a progress rate of 97%.
Ulsan City is gradually introducing sewage generated in the Buk-gu and Dong-gu areas from March after performance inspections of the sewage treatment equipment at the under-construction Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility, and plans to complete comprehensive test operations and officially open the facility on June 9 for full-scale operation.

An official from Ulsan City stated, "Once the Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility expansion project is completed, it will enable stable treatment of additional sewage generated in the Buk-gu and Dong-gu areas related to various urban developments within the development-restricted zone, which is being promoted as a core project of Ulsan. It will also relieve the overload of the existing Bangojin Sewage Treatment Facility and contribute to improving the water quality of public water bodies."
