CU Introduces Self-Checkout 2.0... "Strengthening IT Competitiveness"
Improving Store Usage Convenience
CU announced on the 16th that it will introduce the ‘Self Checkout Counter (POS) 2.0’ to enhance customer convenience in store usage and improve operational efficiency for franchise owners.
CU developed the next-generation POS system in 2019 and introduced the self POS function to all stores. The self POS allows customers to independently scan products, make payments, apply discounts, and accumulate points through contactless payment, which is especially useful during busy hours or when staff are absent.
This update focuses on ▲Fast Payment Mode ▲Payment Screen Mirroring Function for Staff ▲Customer-friendly User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design. Fast Payment Mode skips the discount, point accumulation, and coupon application steps during the payment process once a product is registered, moving directly to the payment screen. Additionally, the Payment Screen Mirroring function allows staff to view and operate the customer’s screen via a monitor inside the counter when customers have difficulty using the self POS.
The self POS also offers an English version where users can select their preferred language. CU plans to develop the system so that the new self POS program can be used in local stores in Mongolia and Malaysia by the end of this year.
