Electric Vehicle Charging in Ulsan Made Easier... Charging Station Deployment Project 'On Track'
A Total of 3,748 Units Installed and Operated, Charging Stations Account for 74%
Various Projects Ongoing This Year, Expanding Distribution Volume
As various electric vehicle (EV) charger distribution projects accelerate in Ulsan, the charging service infrastructure is being rapidly established.
Ulsan City announced on the 15th that it has distributed a total of 3,748 EV chargers from 2017 to the end of 2022.
Among these, there are 494 fast chargers and 3,254 slow chargers, with 3,251 public chargers and 497 private chargers. By year, 186 units were distributed in 2017, 375 in 2018, 334 in 2019, 801 in 2020, 416 in 2021, and 1,636 in 2022.
Last year, the number of chargers distributed increased by a remarkable 293% (1,220 units) compared to the previous year. Compared to the 5,061 registered EVs, there are 3,748 charging stations, resulting in a ratio of 74%. Ulsan City plans to continue increasing the number of chargers by promoting various EV charging facility distribution projects this year as well.
First, the 2023 regional zero-emission vehicle transition brand project was selected by the Ministry of Environment through a consortium formed by Ulsan City and Humax EV, and a total of 411 EV chargers will be installed in public institutions and private facilities.
Last year, Ulsan City was also selected for the Ministry of Environment’s ‘Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Brand Project’ and installed a total of 319 EV chargers in key areas of Ulsan City. Additionally, the ‘2023 Jeonju Stationary EV Charging Station Construction Project’ (Korea Electric Power Corporation) is a project to install EV chargers near detached houses, row houses, multi-family housing, and on-street parking lots, with 15 units planned for installation this year.
Furthermore, government-level projects such as the 2023 public fast-charging facility installation for electric vehicles, the 2023 EV slow-charging facility subsidy project (Ministry of Environment), and the 2023 EV charging service industry promotion project (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) are also being promoted, which is expected to significantly increase the number of chargers distributed in the Ulsan area.
