Gwangju Seo-gu Future Innovation Committee Recommends Creating Resident Autonomy Guidelines
The Future Innovation Committee of Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (co-chairs Kim Ikang and Kim Jaecheol) announced on the 14th that it has recommended the creation of a ‘Seo-gu-type Resident Autonomy Guideline’ for Seo-gu.
Accordingly, Seo-gu held the 4th plenary meeting of the Future Innovation Committee, composed of about 30 members including private experts representing various fields such as economy, autonomy, welfare, education, women, culture, and youth, as well as Seo-gu council members and public officials, and finalized this recommendation.
The committee reached a consensus on the need for a specialized guideline unique to Seo-gu that can be referenced when forming resident autonomy associations in each neighborhood, selecting the ‘Creation of Seo-gu-type Resident Autonomy Guideline’ as a representative policy task.
At the same meeting, the committee also presented various opinions including the establishment of a control tower and permanent network for the Startup Center, Youth Balsan Workshop, and Small Business Management Support Center; the necessity of a manual on how residents should respond in case of disasters; and the formation and operation of a TF team to strengthen the public nature of dementia care.
Seo-gu plans to review the Future Innovation Committee’s recommendations through the responsible departments and reflect them in district administration.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Innovation begins with breaking away from the familiar and escaping old practices and habits,” adding, “Together with experts from various fields who have actively stepped forward for the development of Seo-gu, we will harness the power of collective intelligence to design the future of our Seo-gu.”
Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Future Innovation Committee gathers opinions on the direction of district innovation and detailed implementation plans to provide policy recommendations to Seo-gu, and also serves as a communication channel between the public and government for collecting civic opinions and discovering areas for improvement in district administration.
