Goheung-gun, Night Tourism Noksonghang Drone Show Debut
From May, a 7-month weekly Saturday drone show featuring 500 drones per session
Gongyeongmin, the governor of Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that the ‘2023 Goheung Nokdong Port Drone Show,’ featuring 500 drones, will be the first of its kind in Jeollanam-do as a nighttime tourist attraction set against the night view of Sorok Bridge at Nokdong Port.
The Goheung Nokdong Port Drone Show will take place every Saturday evening for seven months starting in May at the main stage of Nokdong Sea Garden. Each event will begin with a busking performance by local groups volunteering their talents, followed by a spectacular 10-minute drone swarm show featuring 500 drones at 9 PM.
In particular, the Nokdong Port Drone Show is managed by a specialized company developing the latest drone content that combines innovative swarm flight technology with artistic sensibility, promising to offer residents and tourists a unique experience of coordinated drone flight.
The county stated that the show will differentiate itself from existing drone performances by using various production effects and incorporating content related to Goheung. The drone displays will harmonize with the nighttime scenery of Nokdong Port, featuring different themes based on seasons and commemorative days, with new performances every Saturday night.
The opening ceremony and the first performance scheduled for May 6 will celebrate ‘Family Month’ by presenting three-dimensional designs of bouquets, heart-shaped flower paths, and carnations, expressing love and gratitude among family members, promising an emotionally touching inaugural show.
For upcoming major local festivals and special events such as the Nokdong Sea Fireworks Festival and the Goheung Yuja Persimmon Festival, a large-scale drone light show featuring 1,000 drones is planned as a special event performance.
The county plans to provide information about each week’s drone show themes and related details through various promotional channels including TV, radio, the county’s official website, and official social media accounts.
Additionally, to ensure safety during each drone show event, the county is making thorough preparations such as deploying safety personnel from related organizations including the police station, fire station, Nokdong JC, and Doyang-eup, conducting safety inspections, and other measures to guarantee a safe and successful performance.
A county official stated, “With a differentiated drone light show and active promotional marketing, we will do our best to operate the Nokdong Port Drone Show as a permanent attraction representing Goheung’s nighttime tourism, attracting many tourists alongside our residents without pause.”
Meanwhile, the area around the event venue, known as the food-specialized district ‘Nokdong Eel Street,’ along with abundant fresh seafood and other delicacies, is a representative tourist destination in Goheung-gun. The influx of tourists coming to see the drone show is expected to boost Goheung’s tourism and revitalize the local economy through increased business activity.
